Codename:

Bacchus Who?!

We’ve uncovered another hidden gem for you, today, dear Operative!

Today’s 2010 Dionysus Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a truly delicious wine that delivers elegance and bright fruit, in a style that showcases the unique terrior of the Russian River Valley. Our entire tasting panel loved this approachable and delicious wine. Loaded with red fruit and floral flavors this sweetly aromatic wine is balanced and elegant, with this the right amount of complexity. all without taking itself too seriously.

Sweet fruits coupled with settle earthiness and a bright acidity, makes this wonderful wine and easy companion for most foods. We recommend pairing this wine with a grilled trout or roasted pork loin in a cherry reduction sauce

Tasting Profile

Look:

Light ruby red hues with perfect clarity and even coloration from the beautiful core of the wine out to the delicate pink edging. Skinny, slow forming, tightly-spaced legs be a rapid descent down the glass after swirling the wine.

Smell:

Floral rose petal, sweet cedarwood, sweet cherry and wild strawberry sit atop a layer of dried herbs, sweet subtle mulch and a hint of sweet spice.

Taste:

Big cherry, juicy blackberry and wild strawberry are out in front. Cranberry, dried rose petals, subtle spice and flint follow on.

Finish:

Very long, flavorful and elegant with lingering red and black fruit that slowly usher in a gradually spreading dryness that is accompanied by rose petals, flint and a hint of exotic sweet spice.

What the Winery Says

As the Elysian Fields are to the Greek Gods of Olympus, so is the Russian River Valley to Sonoma County wines; particularly the Pinot Noir. We source fruit from 4 different blocks with 4 distinct clones: 777, 667, Pommard & 115. We fermented on 4 different batches allowing each lot to provide the unique blend; rich with complexities. Fresh red fruit and character distinguish this Russian River Pinot Noir from the same varietal of other appellations.

AROMATICS

Fresh raspberry, blackberries, soft notes of dark chocolate layers of roasted nuts combine to make this wine unique.

ON THE PALATE

A balanced intensity of rich cherry, ripe raspberry envelops the mid palate. The intense flavors of dark chocolate slowly saturate the back palate. Soft tones of caramel are revealed in the long, caressing mouth filling finish.

About the Winery

Born over a Christmas dinner discussion, Winemaker/ Oenologist Cecilia Valdivia and Sonoma County Businessman Mark Adams dreamed of producing a high quality wine that would become a legacy for our children. We adopted the name Dionysus, better known as the Greek God of Wine. As one of the 12 Olympians, Dionysus is not only a winemaker but the patron deity of agriculture and theatre. We could not think of a better name to represent the wine that we craft.

Cecilia is one of the hardest working and best educated winemakers in the industry. She is grace under pressure and a traffic cop all rolled into one. The intensity of the harvest only improves on what most would already consider an “A” game. While she is about as petite as winemakers come, she might as well be King Kong if you’re not keeping up. Cecilia and I have our individual strengths and don’t get in each other’s way. I am learning about winemaking as a necessity, but she has no desire to learn anything about the business aspect. The only thing she cares more about than crafting the perfect wine is her family. What more could I ask in a partner.
