We’ve shown Zins from the Grist vineyard, in the past, and they have always sold out. This wonderful vineyard has supplied Zinfandel grapes to Turley, Bradford Mountain and Orin Swift (for The Prisoner).

Lively, fruit-driven, juicy and delicious, this is a classic Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel that is perfect for your upcoming Spring and Summer BBQs.
Pair this very flexible wine with Boston Baked beans, chicken yakitori skewers or a teriyaki pineapple portabello mushroom burger.
Lovely and dark with a beet root colored core and ruby edges that catch the light when swirled. Thick, ropey legs move swiftly down the glass when the wine settles from swirling.
Luscious and full on the nose with black cherry and blackberry layered over dried plum, violet black tea, soft spice, dried fall leaves and a hint of maple and brown sugar.
Balanced and bold, lead by dark fruits of blackberry, black cherry, stewed blood orange compote and followed by soft baking spice, dried cranberry, hard leather and dried leaves.
Long lingering with pronounced black cherry. Finely integrated tannins and a bright acidity work together to drive flavors to the far corners of the palate.
What the Winery Says
Horse and Plow Winery merges the best of old and new world techniques to produce hand-crafted, authentic wines from northern California. This Zinfandel comes from Grist Vineyard located 1000 feet above Dry Creek Valley. The grapes were punched down by hand in open-top fermentors, gently pressed then aged in French Oak barrels for 16 months.

About the Winery
Horse & Plow is owned by husband and wife team, Chris Condos and Suzanne Hagins. After many years in the wine industry, they learned the benefits of organic viticulture and natural winemaking. Organic vineyards produce wines that are more expressive of where they were grown. No unsustainable synthetic pesticides or fertilizers are used in the vineyard, which can be a danger to the environment and vineyard workers. Our wines are made naturally with no synthetic nutrients or additives, no GMO’s, are vegan and contain low sulfites.
Chris began his career at Pine Ridge Winery after attending UC Davis. He started Vinum Cellars in Oakville in 1997, which currently produces 25,000 cases of wine annually. He has also been the consulting winemaker for Kathryn Kennedy Winery since 1998. Suzanne started her winemaking career in 1998 at Comte Armand in Pommard, with California experience at David Bruce and Goldeneye wineries. She is also the owner and winemaker for Lutea which produces organically grown pinot noir.
Chris and Suzanne started Horse & Plow in 2008 making only 600 cases of wine and are currently making 2500 cases. They recently welcomed a son, Dean, and hope to build Horse & Plow into an inspiring future for him.
