2007 Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah
California: Dry Creek Valley (Sonoma)
Meeker shall inherit the Earth
We’ve been friends with Meeker Winery for the last seven years. In that time, we’ve gotten to know them and their wonderful wines. Unfortunately for us, their popular wines are so hotly sought-after that they haven’t had any for us to showcase for you. Today Agent Red got lucky, and we are very proud to bring you a doozy of a Meeker wine.
2007 Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah is a delightfully flavorful and food-friendly wine that will pair with almost anything you can think of. This wine won’t take the enamel off your teeth like some monster Petites are wont to do. This wine has plenty of flavor and plenty of character, but it is a bright and balanced food wine through and through.
Don’t forget, we recommend that you buy and enjoy any 2007 we showcase for you. The 2007 vintage won a decade-high 96 point score for northern California reds from Robert Parker.

An incredibly vivid wine with a deep plum core. Viewed from the top of the wine, this dark color carries through to the meniscus. When swirled or viewed from the side, the wine shows a pretty crimson edge.
With a wonderful blend of fruit and earth, this wine leads with big, bright notes of sweet blackberry jam, cassis and dried blueberry draped over aged oak, sweet tobacco and dried cranberry with a subtle hint of cinnamon herbal tea.
Bright and fresh at the front of the palate, leading to a mid-palate lushness that teems with sweet blackberry compote, braised plum, young blackberry and freshly brewed hibiscus black tea.
An elegant, drying and long-lingering finish, with honeyed dark fruit seamlessly transitioning into a pleasant, bright tartness.
Enjoy this wine with a rosemary and garlic rubbed grilled chicken and freshly roasted asparagus.
What the Winery Says
It wouldn’t be Petite Sirah if it didn’t feature that characteristic black and white pepper - and boy does this one show off a big pepper nose. But that’s not all - the nose has hints of blackberries and molasses, and on the palate the wine is rich with bittersweet cocoa and dark roast coffee layered with berry cobbler. We call some of our big wines the “creature from the black lagoon” - but we think this might even be the black lagoon that the creature came from. This is a perfect wine for pairing with cowboy/cowgirl style cuts of red meat or a rich lasagna. Drink now or save for 3-5 years.

About the Winery
The Meeker Vineyard is a truly family operation. Molly & Charlie’s son Lucas joined the winery full time in 2007 after graduating from Colgate University. Starting off scrubbing tanks and washing glasses, he’s worked his way up to designing labels and making wine with his dad. Molly & Charlie’s daughter Kelly lives in Portland, where she works for OpenSesame, a tech startup, and manages the winery’s social media, website and marketing.
The Meeker Vineyard family prides ourselves on our unconventional attitude towards the wine business: We like to say we take nothing seriously but the wine itself. We have fun, listen to the blues and love to share a glass of wine and a good time.
The Meeker Vineyard tasting room is currently located in the 105-year-old Geyserville Bank building in the farm town of Geyserville, about six miles north of Healdsburg between Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. In 2001, the Meeker tasting room was cited by The Wall Street Journal as one of the most enjoyable wine tasting experiences in all of Napa and Sonoma Counties.
