We settled in Châteauneuf first of all for the exceptional quality of its terroir, but also because Pope Clément V, from Bordeaux who owned Château Pape Clément, became the first Pope of Avignon. His summer residence was Châteauneuf du Pape, thus creating a very strong link with Château Pape Clément, a Grand Cru Classé of Graves. This link is very valuable to us. Great wines always have a great history.

The signature “Bernard Magrez” provides the guaranty from a great owner who’s been involved for 40 years, giving his energy and determination for the quality of his wines. This signature is also sustained by a national and international media campaign which makes Bernard Magrez the first wine advertiser in France.

The wine is carefully selected inside the vineyard parcels to ensure only the finest quality is selected. The grapes are then hand harvested in small crates and brought back to the winery where hand sorting can take place. Destemming is done by only five qualified individuals. Berries are cold soaked for 4-8 days prior to fermentation in which during punch downs are done to help the wine breath. In total the berries will undergo maceration for 26-30 days in which the wine is aged in large oak casks for 12 months.
