Mission Briefing

Codename:

Artistically Framed

If you like Rombauer Chardonnay, you’ll love this wine - at less than half the price. Today’s 2009 Framed Chardonnay is a serious, barrel fermented wine that was obviously fermented in spare-no-expense, high end oak barrels.

Not as overwrought as some of the California Chards we have been tasting - and rejecting - today’s wine is very balanced. Flavorful and full on the palate, fruits are fresh and bright while the texture is silky and round, without being buttery or thick.

Enjoy a giant glass of this dinner wine with a variety of foods. We’ll be paring ours with stone crab with garlic aioli sauce or poached salmon with a classic cream dill sauce.

Tasting Profile

Look:

Rich golden yellow with glinting edges that catch the light when swirled. As the wine settles, it leaves behind fat tears that move swiftly down the glass.

Smell:

Bold and lush with big red apple, golden delicious apple, butterscotch, vanilla and subtle dried cedar shavings. As the wine warms, it reveals a hint of slate mineral.

Taste:

Big, ripe, round, viscous and mouth-filling up front with pomello, mixed yellow citrus of Meyer lemon, standard lemon and citrus flower. As the wine warms and breathes for a few minutes, butterscotch, caramelized sugar and flint revela themselves.

Finish:

Ultra-long, with fruit and flowers that persist for an very long time. Ultimately, the wine dries the palate, leaving behind a lovely flinty feel.

Pairing:

Enjoy a giant glass of this dinner wine with a variety of foods. We’ll be paring ours with stone crab with garlic aioli sauce or poached salmon with a classic cream dill sauce.
